Content Verification

You can specify the level to which we verify the content of your website or application.

Some of the checks can be conducted without any documentation at all, but a full check would require the detailed design and copy documents. The following categories would be typical.

Proof Reading

Depending on the nature of the content, it may be sufficient to just report spelling errors, but in other cases additional criteria such as grammar, colloquialisms and consistency of phraseology, hyphenation and capitalisation may be important.

If the copy documents are available they will be used as an oracle. If they are not, the tester uses their experience to assess whether the text is correct, comprehensible and complete.

Consistency of Design and Layout

Even without any design documentation it is possible to identify inconstencies in page layout, typography, colour schemes etc.

Verification Against Wireframes

If wireframes are available we can verify that the major blocks of content are present and are located correctly.

Factual Accuracy

This is outside the scope of most projects, but if necessary we will verify all factual statements including dates, addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses, prices etc.

Legal Compliance Audit

Websites, and particularly e-commerce sites, are subject to many legal requirements. Our qualified lawyer will check for compliance with the following:

  • Company law requirements
  • Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003
  • Electronic Commerce (EC Directive) Regulations 2002
  • Data Protection Act 1998
  • General legal considerations for businesses trading online
